ChatGPT Ads for education, through to enrolment.

Before asking for a brochure, a candidate tells ChatGPT about their background, their budget and their constraints. Your programme can be in that conversation, and we follow what it produces all the way to the enrolment.

I've been an accountant for 8 years and want to move into data analytics without quitting my job, which course should I look at?

When you keep your job, the first question is whether the course fits a full-time schedule: evening or weekend pace, remote delivery, and a recognised credential your employer or a funding scheme will accept. Before comparing schools, check the weekly hours, who issues the certificate, and what happens if you fall behind mid-course.

// why this sector

Why education is a natural fit.

Choosing a course takes context (background, budget, time available, goal), and the candidate hands all of it to ChatGPT in a single sentence. Ads run on the Free and Go plans only, where you meet more students and career changers than CIOs.

01

Constraints come before the programme

An accountant who wants to become a data analyst without quitting writes their seniority, their free time and their funding need in the same sentence, as in the example at the top of the page. Where a Google query is three words, a guidance prompt runs to three sentences, budget included. The ad that answers the constraint (full-time job, evenings, remote) has a better chance of being read than the one that sells the catalogue.

02

Funding decides before the programme does

Employer budget, public schemes, apprenticeship, personal savings: "who pays" comes before "what's taught". A dedicated funding ad group catches that moment, whereas a generic campaign lets it slip by.

03

The calendar creates the urgency

An intake has a date. The questions come in the weeks before it, and the right ad names that intake, with its format and its funding, rather than the school in general.

// intents

The conversations that lead to a brochure.

  1. Exploration

    Choosing a path

    Typical prompt

    "I want to work in cybersecurity without a science degree, which course should I start with?"

    What the ad has to do

    Surface the right entry level and format. The ad names the candidate's profile, not the school's catalogue.

  2. Comparison

    Programme A or programme B

    Typical prompt

    "Business school master's or an online certificate to move into product management?"

    What the ad has to do

    Carry one verifiable difference (pace, credential or support), and only one per ad.

  3. Funding

    Who pays

    Typical prompt

    "Can a data bootcamp be funded by my employer's training budget, and what's left for me to pay?"

    What the ad has to do

    Answer the funding question on the landing page, with the schemes actually accepted and nothing more.

  4. Decision

    Format and calendar

    Typical prompt

    "Apprenticeship or full-time programme for a career change into web development, with an intake before summer?"

    What the ad has to do

    Name the intake, the format and the next step: brochure, open day or application.

// context hints

Context hints written the way your candidates talk.

A candidate almost never says "data course". They say they have a job, a funding question and an intake they want soon. The hints keep that story as it is, one ad group per family of situations, as in this extract for a tech bootcamp:

// scenarios

Three typical campaigns, one indicator each.

Three examples that tie a conversation to an ad, a page and a metric. They are not delivery promises.

Tech bootcamp

Conversation
"A 6-month web development course, online, that my employer can fund"
Ad angle
Pace, credential and funding fit in one line. No job promise.
Landing page
Programme page with the next intake and the brochure form, not the homepage.
KPI
Brochure requests, then complete applications.

Post-secondary school

Conversation
"A digital marketing bachelor's with a work-study option and staggered intakes"
Ad angle
Work-study, partner companies, intake dates.
Landing page
Bachelor's page with the calendar and the open-day sign-up.
KPI
Open-day sign-ups, applications filed.

Corporate training

Conversation
"A management course for our team leads, funded by our training budget, open-enrolment format"
Ad angle
Open or in-house format, funding, next session.
Landing page
Course page with the detailed syllabus and the quote request.
KPI
Quote requests, sessions filled.

// measurement

Measure what matters after the brochure.

OpenAI's native report stops at the click, while a school decides on what comes after: the brochure, the callback, the application, the enrolment. We wire the OpenAI Pixel and the Conversions API to those steps, then read your numbers against the Hiints Index.

  • Brochure requests

    The first signal, as long as you track the callback as well: a brochure downloaded with no call within the week is worth nothing.

  • Complete applications

    The file submitted, not the account created. The candidate commits here, and the native report doesn't see it.

  • Enrolments

    The final conversion often lands weeks after the click; we tie it back to the originating click through UTMs and the CRM.

  • Cost per enrolment

    The only number that compares with Google Ads and Meta, intake for intake.

  • Brochure → enrolment

    This ratio says whether your ads attract candidates or the merely curious. An ad group that fills brochures without producing applications gets cut.

  • Your CPC vs education accounts

    A bootcamp and a bachelor's don't have the same entry CPC. We read yours against comparable accounts in the Hiints Index, never against an all-sector average.

// honest qualification

Not for every school, here is the filter.

Yes, clearly

You recruit adults who decide for themselves (career changers, continuing education, bootcamps, online courses, bachelor's or master's), you have a page per programme with a dated intake and a brochure form, and someone calls back every request.

Yes, with one caveat

If your audience is made up of minors or decides alongside their parents, part of the candidates sit outside the channel: ads only reach signed-in adults. The same caveat applies to executive education, where a share is on a paid plan and therefore out of reach. Before signing, we assess how much of your target we can actually touch.

Not yet

If admissions run entirely through a centralised procedure, with no brochure or direct application, the channel has nothing to convert. The verdict is the same under €3,000 of monthly media: the test wouldn't have the volume to learn. We'll tell you to your face, and point you towards the channels you already have.

// questions

Questions on ChatGPT Ads and Education & training.

Is ChatGPT Ads relevant for a school or training provider?

Yes, when the person choosing is an adult who decides alone: the employee changing career, the job seeker, the small company equipping its team leads. A secondary-school student deciding with their parents only partly fits the channel, since ads only reach signed-in adults on the Free and Go plans. Before launching, we check that your audience is there.

Can we promise a job or a salary in the ad?

No. A results promise isn't verifiable, and that kind of claim falls under OpenAI's advertising policies, which we check before any launch. The ad names a programme, a format, an intake and a funding route; the proof lives on the landing page.

How do we handle the funding question?

With a dedicated ad group. Hints describe funding situations (employer budget, public schemes, apprenticeship; in France, CPF and OPCO) and the landing page lists the schemes actually accepted for that programme. An out-of-pocket cost found after the brochure is a lost lead.

Do we need one campaign per intake?

One campaign per objective and per country, one ad group per intent family. The intake lives in the ads and on the landing page, which we rewrite for each session instead of rebuilding the structure.

Which conversion should a school track?

The brochure request is only a start. The real cost per student is decided in the CRM, so we tie clicks to complete applications and enrolments through the OpenAI Pixel, the Conversions API and your application data.

What test budget should I plan for an intake?

Work backwards from the intake: how many enrolments the test needs before it teaches you anything, at what target cost per enrolment, and across how many programmes in parallel. Setup is free, and the fee follows your media (15% under €5,000 a month, 10% above). Below €3,000 of monthly media, we advise against testing.
